Kevin Comstock is a native Southern Californian who began performing professionally in 1987, serving as a keyboardist/guitarist for original and cover bands.
After receiving a degree in Music Synthesis from the Grove School of Music, Kevin added performing to his music career, first working as a professional clown. As “Bumper the Clown,” Kevin was featured in LA Weekly as “Best Young Clown in Southern California,” and performed at hundreds of events for corporate clients such as Taco Bell, Nickelodeon Television Entertainment, and Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Known as “Clown to the Stars,” Bumper performed at parties for the likes of Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, Dennis Quaid, Roseanne Barr, Martin Mull and other celebrities and dignitaries, he also performed in some television and movie engagements.
In 1995, Kevin moved to the next level with stand-up comedy, studying with the Professor of Stand-Up Comedy Greg Dean.
As a working stand-up comedian, Kevin has performed at LA venues the Improv, the Comedy Store, and the Icehouse. He has shared the stage with notable comedians Craig Gass, Jimmy Brogan, Joey Medina, Bil Dwyer, and Maria Bamford. Kevin also founded and published “Laugh-Line Magazine,” an industry guide for up-and-coming stand-up comedians, which remained in national publication for two years.
Laugh-Line Magazine featured tips and tricks as well as full-length interviews with comedians such as Paul Rodriquez, Janine Gorafalo, Jim Brewer, Bobcat Goldthwait and Dave Chappelle.
Kevin was increasingly asked to create special events for many corporate clients he met during the clowning days. As result, Kevin spun Laugh-Line Magazine into Laugh-Line Productions, a full-service entertainment company specializing in comedy-based interactive entertainment for corporate events. Kevin created his signature “Extreme Comedy Gameshow" and the “Extreme Picnic Show” and performed hundreds of family-friendly shows for corporate clients such as JetBlue Airways, Capcom Entertainment and the NFL.
In 2008, Kevin switched gears and accepted a position as Director of Keyboard Technology at the world-famous Musician’s Institute in Hollywood California. That was where Kevin created a weekly class that incorporated much of the live performance philosophy and technique learned from Greg Dean but applied to live performing musicians.
Kevin remains committed to helping performers connect with their audience through teaching comedy techniques and principles with Greg Dean Stand-Up Comedy Classes, and assisting live musicians with performance skills through his company, Impact Music Consulting.
Kevin currently resides in Long Beach CA with his wife, actress/comedienne Leigh Forrest, daughters Zoe and Kacie, dogs Feebee and Rambo, and Cleo the cat.
