Over five weeks, you’ll learn how to write original setups, punchlines, and tags using Greg Dean’s Joke Prospector Writing System — the only method that takes you from a blank page to a complete, audience-ready joke.
Whether you join in-person in Santa Monica or live on Zoom, you’ll get the exact same training from Greg Dean or his certified instructors in a fun, supportive environment. Greg’s Stand-Up Comedy Class is one of the longest running programs too!
Course Formats
🎭 In-Person – Santa Monica Playhouse with Greg Dean
- Learn in a real comedy venue.
- Receive direct feedback from Greg Dean or certified coaches.
💻 Live Zoom – Anywhere in the World with Gayla Johnson
- Interactive classes with live feedback and coaching
- Same curriculum as the in-person class
Course Schedules
In Person at the Santa Monica Playhouse
- Every Tuesday night from 7 to 10 pm for 5 consecutive weeks.
Live over Zoom
- Every Thursday afternoon from 4 to 7 pm for 5 consecutive weeks.
Missed Classes & Homework
- If you cannot make a class, contact your us on slack to get the recording of the class. Make certain you go through the entire recording before the next class.
- Homework assignments are assigned in some classes, please be certain to do all homework when assigned before the next class.

In-Person
Greg Dean teaches at the Santa Monica Playhouse on Tuesday nights from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm PST.
